It’s Belmont race weekend! What do horses, Ferraris, and you have in common?
Hi friends,
Heart-pounding, history-making horse racing is on deck for Saturday June 6th 2015 at the Belmont in New York. Nicknamed ‘The Test of the Champion’, it is the third and final leg of the Triple Crown. Keep an eye on American Pharoah who is in the running to clinch the prestigious Triple Crown for the first time in 1978.
These thoroughbreds are literally the equestrian version of Ferraris. Of all the professional athletes that I work with at our office, horse racing jockeys are by far some of the toughest athletes that I know.
As the Official Sports Therapy Center of Gulfstream Park, I can share with you some insight on what it’s like to work with these stars. First, there are terrifying, traumatic injuries sustained from getting unseated at speeds into 35-40 MPH +.
On a more constant, day to day basis, you can just feel the tense shoulders, tight low backs and neck pain that goes with the incredibly grueling task of leaning forward in the saddle to race these insanely fast and strong horses year-round.
Wait for it… literally no different than leaning over a computer 40+ hours a week.
Ouch.
How do I treat neck pain from professional horse racing jockeys all the way to ‘desk’ jockeys? Get the scoop here.
